Contract machining for machine builders

OEM parts manufacturing

Repeat runs of OEM parts, made the same way from the first run to the last, by a Leamington, Ontario shop you can drive to.

Machinist setting up a part on a CNC machine at Custom Concepts

The first part was right, but by the third batch run, tolerances had drifted. Have you had this problem?

If you build machines, you've probably been through this. A supplier wants a minimum order you don't need, sends the turning to one shop and the milling to another, and goes quiet until something goes wrong.

Your machine can't go out the door until every part is in and correct. You shouldn't have to spend your week chasing suppliers to find out where your parts are.

/How we handle OEM production work

Batch production
  1. 01

    Batch runs

We run 50 to 500+ of the same part, and each run is set up to match the last one, so the parts you order in the spring fit the same way as the ones you ordered in the fall.

  2. 02

    Under one roof

Milling, turning, SolidWorks design and light fabrication all happen in our shop. Your part doesn't get passed between three suppliers to get finished.

  3. 03

    Turning

Our twin-spindle CNC turning machines mill and drill in the same setup, so a part can come off the machine finished. That includes our new Okuma LB4000 EX II multitasking lathe. With the bar feeder loaded, the lathe can keep running through a shift without an operator standing at it.

    Tolerances

We work to tolerances of half a thou to a thou, and we check parts with our own inspection tooling before they leave.

  5. 05

    Prototype to production

We can start from a drawing, a SolidWorks file, or a worn or broken part that we reverse engineer. Where it helps, we 3D print a trial piece before we cut metal. The shop that made your prototype is the same one that runs production, so nothing has to be relearned when you scale up.

How to get started

01–04
(04) StepsRequest a quote)
  1. 01

    Tell us about the part

Email us the engineering drawing or SolidWorks file, or bring in the worn part you need made again.

  2. 02

    Get a quote

We look it over and send you a quote.

  3. 03

    Approve a first run

Start with a first run and check the parts on your own line.

  4. 04

    Order repeat runs

When you need more, we run it again to the same drawing.

  • Machined clamp blocks for fixture plates in an automated assembly cell

    Fixture plate clamp blocks

20 clamp blocks for an automated assembly cell, reverse engineered to use off-the-shelf hardware.

  • Machined rocker jogger blocks for a printing machine

    Rocker jogger blocks

Worn blocks reverse engineered and drawn in CAD, so the next set can be machined from the file.

  • Machined components for a flip-up conveyor laid out with the drawing

    Flip-up conveyor

A sturdier conveyor that lifts out of the way so operators can reach both sides of the equipment.

  • Red machined kick-out arm for a label printing machine

    Cardboard kick-out assembly spare

A complete spare assembly for a label printing machine, ready to go in when the part is damaged.
